Over 3000 Attend ‘Music Meets Runway’ Casting

The 2013 model casting for the premier music and fashion show, ‘Music Meets Runway’ (MMR), was a tremendous success with a huge turnout of over 3000 young aspiring models as against last year’s 1000 models. The event was held at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. This is the latest in a series of campaigns lined up for the third edition of ‘Music Meets Runway’, tagged, ‘The Icons Edition.’

What a way to start! The Judges had a very hard time selecting the finalists, as the quality and quantity of respondents was so high.

Speaking at the event, Jennifer Olize, the CEO of Le Reve Events, the Creative Director, behind the show appreciated the models informing them to check their emails for the outcome of the show. ‘We will get back to you if you are selected and as for those who are not chosen this year, thanks for attending, please do try again next year.’

Miss Nkem Okorafor, the current “Face” of MMR 2012, who was in attendance said “whoever emerges winner will have the sequence of her life changed forever.” This year’s winner will go on to become the new “Face” of MMR for a year and will also participate in a major International fashion week in 2014.

Speaking on passing her crown, Miss Okorafor said “being the Face of MMR has really opened lots of doors for me, it took me four years to be where I am today. The upcoming models now look up to me as a role model, which feels good. I was recently cast as the lead model “The Golden Girl” in this year’s campaign shoot and video, later this year I will be travelling to participate in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. I have mixed feelings on passing the crown as the year has gone so fast, but I am happy that I have laid a good legacy for my successor, I will be delighted to see who will emerge Face of MMR 2013 and carry on where I left off in promoting the MMR brand.”

MMR is the premier music and fashion show that serves as meeting point of music and fashion. The show debuted in 2011 at Eko Hotel with 10 musicians and 10 fashion designers. It was at the show, star musician, Davido performed publicly for the first time. In 2012, ‘Kokomaster,’ D’banj and international model, Millen Magese co-hosted the show with acts like Burna Boy, Efya, May D, Wizkid, Iyanya, Naeto C, Ajebutter 22 and others gave buzz-worthy performances.

Renowned fashion designers including Lanre Da Silva led 10 other upwardly mobile fashion designers on the runway. The show over the years has garnered lots of followership and popularity that far surpasses the number of years it has been on. Le’ Reve, the organisers have promised an ‘iconic’ show later in the year.
