President Jonathan Congratulates The Super Eagles on The Ethiopian Victory

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan took time-off away from his busy schedule at the African Union Summit to check on the African Champions at their training inside the National Stadium, Addis Ababa on Saturday.

The surprise visit came just as the coach Stephen Keshi-led team prepared to end the ‘Walyas Antelopes’ of Ethiopia’s dream to reach a first ever World Cup finals in Brazil.

The sports-loving President stressed the need for Nigeria not just to grace her fifth appearance at the the world football grand stage but to also improve on their previous performances at the competition.

“We’ve been going to the World Cup, this year we don’t just want to go, we want to make an impact so that the world will begin to know that we have arrived as a nation,” said the President.

“We will give you all the encouragement. Thank you for what you’re doing for us.”

In his remarks, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Aminu Maigari thanked the President for his strong commitment to the national football team, stressing that the Super Eagle’s will return the favour and gladden Nigerians’ hearts.

“I want to assure you on behalf of the team and the Nigerian football family that we will be (in Brazil),” Maigari added.

“Goodluck Jonathan is the only president who created time within his tight schedule to be with our Super eagles, twice. This is the biggest motivation we need.”
