President Jonathan Directs Ministry of Education To Implement ASUU's Demands

President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the Federal Ministry ofeducation to commence full implementation of the demands made by theAcademic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in order to resolve the indefinite strike embarked upon by the union.
Jonathan gave the directive while on a state visit to Nasarawa State, to commission the ultra-modern TA’AL Model Primary School, constructed by the Governor Tanko Al-Makura administration to provide qualitative, competitive andfree education for the less privileged.

Police, Hoodlums Accused Of Killing Undergraduate, Friend

Policemen attached to the Badagry Police Division, Lagos State, and some hoodlums have been accused of killing a 25-year-old undergraduate of Delta State University, Ifechukwude Nwainokpor, and his friend, identified simply as Kazeem.

An eight-minute video clip of the gruesome killing, which was made available to PUNCH Metro, showed the two victims handcuffed together. They were covered in their own blood and beaten to death with sticks.

Policemen at Bode Thomas division of Lagos State command, Tuesday, arrested a woman who allegedly set her 11-year-old house maid ablaze in Surulere area of Lagos, for stealing a piece of meat from her pot of soup.
The maid identified as Ita Bassey-Eno who reportedly escaped death by the whiskers, is currently at the Burns and Trauma Centre of the Gbadaga General Hospital, with doctors battling to save her life.

Six Killed, Several Injured In Plateau Attack

Five villagers and one assailant were killed in an attack on Kumbur village, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau, on Saturday.

Muhamadu Zakari, the Chairman of Wase Local Government Council, who confirmed the attack and the killings in Jos on Sunday, said that the attackers also injured several others.

Salisu Mustapha, the Media Officer of the Special Task Force (STF), who also confirmed the attack, said that the STF personnel, who rushed to scene of the attack, killed one the fleeing assailants.
