Jane Okora sent her two younger brothers out of the house on an errand. When one of the brothers returned just after 15 minutes, he found Jane lying on the floor with a rope tied around her neck.
The boy raised the alarm attracting people to the house. When the neighbors came to help they discovered that Jane was still alive.
Jane’s mother said that all Jane was complaining about was how the ASUU strike was inconveniencing her as she felt that she should have finished with her studies already and begun to take care of her family but her life was put on hold because of the strike.
Attempts to speak with Jane turned unsuccessful, as she couldn't respond to questions. The only thing she kept murmuring was "It was a better option".
